Housebuilders urge eased lending

Mortgage lenders will have to ease their lending criteria if there is to be any recovery in the housing market. That’s the view of housebuilders Barratt Developments, who this week warned that, although some stability has returned to the sector in the last six months, no sustained improvement can be achieved without a relaxation of lending, particularly for the higher loan-to-value segment of the market.
